A strong fire broke out this Saturday morning at the intersection of Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza and Canal Río Churubusco, in the Pantitlán area of the Iztacalco borough, causing a major mobilization of emergency services and traffic disruptions in eastern Mexico City. According to information from the Citizen Security Secretariat's Traffic Orientation Center (OVIAL), emergency crews immediately rushed to the scene to handle the blaze, while motorists were urged to allow emergency vehicles to pass and exercise extreme caution. The intensity of the smoke suggests the burning of highly flammable materials, such as plastics or petroleum derivatives. The fire is located behind a building with a red facade and near a commercial and industrial area, which increased concern among neighbors and passersby. The fire also caused complications for traffic on Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza, one of the main arteries in the eastern part of the capital. Images shared on social media show a dense black column of smoke rising several meters above the area, visible from various nearby points. Moderate traffic congestion was reported, as well as reduced visibility due to the smoke. At the scene, security personnel were seen securing the area while waiting for more teams to arrive to extinguish the flames, which appeared intense and active in some places. So far, there have been no reports of injuries or the cause of the fire, as emergency crews continue to work at the scene.
